We source unrefined sugar cane that is pressed and dried before it is shipped to us. Many vodkas strive to be tasteless, but we weren’t looking for neutralized flavor so we pot distill this spirit followed by one run in our column still. This is an uncommon vodka with a creamier, thicker body, and just a hint of toasted sugar. There is no glycerin but you’ll notice a soft mouthfeel enhanced by our slow carbon filtration process. Vodka can be made from any ingredient, most are grain spirits because of the low cost. Downslope throws that notion out the window by using sugar cane sourced from Costa Rica for this vodka. The cane extract is fermented, then run through the double diamond pot still. The result of this distillation captures some of the aromatics of the cane. These aromatics remain throughout the product’s journey. Next stop, the custom-designed vodka still where the emerging product is an appropriately potent and neutral spirit. How many distillations? The right amount. The resulting product has a short finish with the impression of sweetness without any actual residual sugar. The added bonus is that the ingredients contain NO GLUTEN.
